CME Grand Round: Concussion Diagnosis and Management in the Adult – Emergency or Admitted Patient

Presenter: Dr. David Rhine
Dr. Rhine is a fellowship certified Emergency Physician who practised full-time Emergency Medicine from 1979
to 2022. From 2009 to present, he has provided concussion care and guidance at different times to the following
groups: to WSBC as a Medical Advisor, to Okanagan Hockey Academy as their physician in residence, to
Kelowna Minor Hockey in creating a concussion management program, to BC Hockey as Concussion Director for their BC Elite Hockey program and to LifeMark physiotherapy (Kelowna, Harvey/Burtch) as the physician lead in their Post-concussion Management program. Dr. Rhine is still involved with LifeMark Physiotherapy and serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Brain Trust Canada. Over the last 17 years, Dr. Rhine estimates that he has provided concussion care to over 5000 patients. Dr. Rhine plans to fully retire at the end of 2026 and is grateful for this opportunity to present one more time on concussion, a complex and at times confusing medical condition.
